
Professor Jeremy Ta’kody is a founding Black Belt member of Tactical BJJ and co-founder of the Tactical Mixed Martial Arts Association with Richard Norton. A lifelong martial artist with 40+ years’ experience, and over a decade in the security industry, Jeremy holds senior rankings in multiple styles. He has trained state, national champions, competitors and thousands of students in BJJ, Muay Thai, Boxing, Combatives and MMA. The former editor of Blitz, International Kickboxer, and Australasian Taekwondo Magazine’s, Jeremy is also the founder of Black Belt Digital Video, producer of Richard Norton’s Black Belt Complexes and the Masters of Grappling series. Passionate about curriculum design, community, human potential and transformation, Jeremy sees martial arts as a powerful path to mastery and personal freedom… on and off the mat.

Professor George Adams is the Chief Instructor of Budoshinkai Karate Australia which has been operating since 1990 and has been practicing martial arts for over 50 years. He holds senior rankings in Karate, Phillipino Martial Arts, Japanese Jiu Jitsu and certifications in Muay Thai. He has literally trained thousands of students and produced over 50 black belts. He is currently a Black Belt 2nd Degree in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Professor Norton who has been his coach and inspiration over the years. He currently operates and run a full time centre in Roselands and another school at West Pennant Hills; both locations offer Team Norton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which George encourages many of his Karate and Muay Thai students to take up as well to add to their arsenal.

Professor Evan Bzadough has been training martial arts for over 30 years starting at the age of 14 and holds a Black Belt in both Hapkido and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (2nd Degree in BJJ). He is fully dedicated to his full time martial arts centre in Preston (NSW). His teaching approach is based on a simplified street based system in Hapkido and Jiu Jitsu where his experience comes from being employed by a government law enforcement body. Evan’s system is to make it work for even the untrained person and be confident in a short space of time. The focus at Absolute Fighting Arts is not on competition although they do have students who often compete. Under the guidance of Professor Norton Evan really focuses on a very welcoming and safe training environment for the new and long term student.

Professor Coach Rod Eadie is the head instructor for Eadie Academy BJJ & MMA and currently holds a Black Belt 1st Degree in Jiu Jitsu and also holds black belts in Zen Do Kai and Shaolin Kenpo. He began his martial arts journey in 1984 as a means of self-defence, which then blossomed into a positive lifestyle dedicated to competition and the development of artistic expression. Rod’s style of instruction reflects an attitude that is battle tested on the streets through a career in law enforcement as well as being forged through competition, attaining numerous titles in MMA & BJJ. He believes Jiu Jitsu is one of a few remaining martial arts that carries a true warrior code and one which expunges fakery. “I am given wholly to the propagation of truth and moral development of martial arts and its practitioners, which is why I have also dedicated myself to an academic career researching philosophy in the arts”.

Professor Clint Harris started his martial arts journey at a very young age with Taekwondo instructed by his father and uncle in their local club in Maryborough VIC. Always looking to further his skills as a martial artist he studied whatever he could get his hands on in the local area. He then took up Freestyle Karate which introduced him to Muay Thai, Kali and Grappling. It wasn’t until he moved to Melbourne that he got to further his journey. It wasn’t until he met his coach and friend Professor Jeremy Ta’kody that he was introduced to MMA, Wrestling and BJJ. From this friendship he was introduced to Professor Norton and has been affiliated with Team Norton ever since.
Professor Clint runs classes in BJJ, Muay Thai and MMA full time at Saxon Sports in Melbourne which is one of the biggest and most equipped gyms in Melbourne.

Professor John Macris started his martial arts journey in 1995 training and earned the rank of Black Singlet in 2010. He then commenced training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with Professor Peter De Been and in 2021 achieved the rank of Black Belt. In 2022 he commenced training under Professor Richard Norton and is currently the head instructor at Fusion Martial Arts in Yarraville for Jiu Jitsu.

Professor Tom Andrews is the head instructor and founder of Garden Grapple MMA, a community-based martial arts club in South East Melbourne. With 14 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts under Jeremy Ta'kody, Tom earned his BJJ Black Belt in August 2025. A lifelong martial artist and active competitor, Tom has regularly competed in both amateur MMA and BJJ, bringing practical experience and a grounded teaching style to his students. Beyond the gym, Tom is a qualified Physical Education teacher who has successfully integrated BJJ into the school sports curriculum, running weekly classes for over 30 school students aged 10 to 15. Passionate about movement, learning, and personal growth, Tom sees martial arts as a transformative path to building confidence, discipline, and community.

Professor Anthony Hockley is the owner and Grand Master teacher of Crocodile Martial Arts Australia in Adelaide and has been a full time teacher for almost 50 years. He is an 8 time Martial Arts Hall of Fame inductee and has trained and been graded in multiple styles. He not only holds a Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu but a Black Belt 5th Dan in Judo.
He is the former President of the Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame (AMAHOF) and is the Australian Representative for the World Karate Union Hall of Fame (WKUHOF) based in the USA and is the Australian Ambassador for the National Sports Karate Museum.
Anthony has a 10th Degree in Kenpo Karate and has also earned black belt degrees in over 20 martial arts styles and regularly teaches in the USA. He has been training in Jiu Jitsu since 1998 under John B Will and then with his long-time friend and instructor, Master Carlos Machado, and the Machado brothers.
Crocodile Martial Arts Australia offers both adult and children’s classes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a variety of other martial arts styles.

Inducted in the Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame and World Union Martial Arts Hall of Fame 2015. Roland spent 26 years in the NSW Police Force. As a Detective Sergeant he spent most of his years investigating fraud and cybercrime and now is in the private industry continuing the same line of work.
Coach Roland Winter commenced training in Tae Kwon Do in 1983 and later took up Zen Do Kai Freestyle where he holds Black Belt 5th Degree. He also has been training in Japanese Swordsmanship since 2010 which he still trains in both arts. He commenced training in Jiu Jitsu in 2011, under Professor George Adams, and won his first Gold Medal in the Australasian Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships in Melbourne.
Roland teaches and is extremely passionate in both Jiu Jitsu and Karate and teaches to his students on the northern beaches of Sydney.

Coach Stewart McKie is the owner of SKM Martial Arts in Hornsby, NSW where he teaches Muay Thai and Team Norton Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has also trained significantly in Taekwondo (Black Belt 2nd Degree), Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu (Silver Sash) JKD Concepts and Boxing. Stewart served as a NSW Police Officer for ten years and worked as a Weapons & Defensive Tactics Instructor in addition to many other operational policing roles. Stewart continues to train martial arts at a high level to achieve his personal goals and provide his students with the most authentic, practical and current techniques available.

Coach Mark Szalajko has been training and teaching Brazilian Jiu-jitsu since 2011 at his centre, Bujutsu Martial Arts based at Smeaton Grange which is the largest martial arts gym in size and membership in the Southern Hemisphere. Retired as Detective Superintendent, in the NSW Police Force, to pursue his life long passion in the martial arts, Coach Mark has a Black Belt 5th Degree with JKA Karate and has several other Black Belts in Okinawan Karate, Okinawan weaponry, Arnis and certification in Muay Thai and he regularly trains and travels to Okinawa, Japan, Thailand and other countries.

Coach Trent Madsen is a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is the Chief Instructor at Kinetic Martial Arts and the Head Instructor at the Cronulla and Heathcote Dojangs. He also holds a 5th Dan in Hapkido and 2nd Dan in Taekwondo and also has a great passion for Jiu Jitsu and personally teaches these classes. Overall, he has been training for over 25 years and has devoted his life to the martial arts and assisting others be the very best they can be, both on and off the mats.
